Use our free Paint Calculator to estimate how much paint you need for a room or wall project. Calculate total paint required in liters based on room dimensions, number of coats, doors, windows, waste percentage, and coverage rate. Ideal for home renovation, interior painting, contractors, and DIY projects.
To calculate paint required, measure the total wall area by multiplying the room perimeter by height. Subtract the area of doors and windows. Multiply the result by the number of coats and divide by the paint coverage rate.
(Length × 2 + Width × 2) × Height − Openings = Paintable Area
Most interior walls require two coats of paint for full coverage and a professional finish. Darker colors or textured walls may require additional coats.
Adding 5% to 10% extra paint accounts for roller absorption, surface texture, touch-ups, and minor calculation differences.
